Lisa Brown
Associate of the Ontario College of Art

Contemporary Canadian Painting Dynamo! Named "The fastest female painter in the world," this little ball of energy, with gusto and determination, took the European art scene by storm. She worked alongside world renowned artists, like Thierry Noir and Jim Avignon, among others. Lisa was the only Canadian artist to have been invited to paint on the Berlin Wall. Her painting on the wall remains to this day and will be incorporated into a new ministry building as testament to her reputation as a world class artist.

Bringing in the New Millennium in the arts, her imagination and energy led to 10 solo shows, 9 group shows and 15 painting installations and murals in her first 2 years in Berlin.

Lisa's is a compelling and tragic story. A young woman struck down by cancer in her prime.

Join us in a retrospective celebration of her life. Her legacy is a huge and brilliant body of work that encompasses the essence of her generation. All of her paintings are startlingly colourful, her work has been described as "a manic melange of images, sometimes boldly erotic" by Saturday Night Magazine. In her own words, "Colour expresses feeling and passion. I am not a minimalist or conceptual artist. I like to give people something to look at."

Lisa's work is to be documented in an exciting new film featuring her paintings, prints, installations, and her many on-camera performances and interviews. An exhibition of her work together with a high-quality, fully illustrated catalogue is also planned.

This venture will give everyone the opportunity to travel with Lisa through her art on a whirlwind trip from Toronto to Paris and Berlin, where she could "transcend the un-magical material world and explore the terrains of her imagination."
